The Prime Minister of India promotes the teachings of the Buddha to the world.
Therefore, all countries in the continent of Asia must unite to become a beacon of light guiding the world and adhere to the teachings of the Lord Buddha by following the Middle Way, which will lead to harmony and unity.
H.E. Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs of the Republic of India, views the 4th SAMVAD Conference held in Thailand as a timely occasion and a convergence point of Hinduism and Buddhism. He believes that both religions follow the same path-one of peace and non-violence.
The 4th SAMVAD conference also invited leaders from other religions, such as Christianity, Islam, and Sikhism, to participate. The key topics of discussion were conflict avoidance and environmental awareness. The underlying idea was that if peace is established in the world, our civilization will be able to endure and thrive.
H.E. Kiren Rijiju believes that discussions at the SAMVAD conference can foster peace by adhering to the Middle Path of the Buddha. The theme "The Asian Century of Dharma-Dhamma" signifies that the 21st century is the Asian Century. Asia is likened to the light of the world, as the core ideas, beliefs, and philosophies that shape global thought have originated from this region. Therefore, Asia stands as the center of world civilization.
In an online statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 4th SAMVAD conference, H.E. Kiren Rijiju emphasized that the Prime Minister of India conveyed a very clear message: we must follow the path of Buddhism, and the teachings of the Buddha are very clear.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared to the United Nations that India has brought the teachings of the Buddha to the world. Therefore, the countries of the Asian continent, including Southeast Asia, South Asia, and East Asia, must come together and guide the global community in showing that Asia desires peace. Furthermore, Asia should serve as a beacon of light for the entire world, as it is the birthplace of all religions and philosophies in the world.
Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed a clear and accurate message on the sacred land of Thailand.
