The Bodhigaya Institute has been operating in accordance with this mission for 17 years and has an outstanding and well-known achievement, which is the 5-Country Dhammayatra in the Mekong Basin (Thailand-Myanmar-Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia), which has been organized twice: the first time, the 5-Country Dhammayatra in the Footsteps of the Noble Monks of the Mekong Basin, was held in 2017; the second time, the 5-Country Dhammayatra in the Mekong Basin, Buddhist Diplomacy for World Peace, was held in 2019. This led to the 3rd Dhammayatra project named the Ganga-Mekong Holy Buddha Relics Dhammayatra, which is the greatest project that no one has ever completed before because it is a Dhammayatra connecting the lands of the Lord Buddha from the Ganga River in India. To the land of Buddhism in the Mekong River Basin of Thailand, led by the relics of the Lord Buddha from the National Museum of India, followed by the relics of the left and right chief disciples, Sariputta and Maha Moggallana, from the Great Stupa of Sanchi, India, between 22 February and 19 March 2024, and there were 4,127,590 devout Buddhists joining in paying homage throughout the country.
With the firm determination of the institute, it is the origin of the project DHAMMAVIJAYA TO DHAMMA CENTURY: Buddhist Alliance for Dhamma Century, Dhamma Principles of All Religions. This project is the great dream of the institute that aims to promote the study and practice of Buddhism including the principles of various religions for all mankind. DhammaVijaya to Dhamma Century Dharma Candle Lighting, Ubon Ratchathani, the World Meditation City, is an expansion and development project. Pilgrimage to the relics of the Lord Buddha and the relics of the Arahants, Sariputta and Mahamoggallana from the Republic of India
From the number of Buddhist believers who have created a record of the gathering of Buddhists for an important time in history, especially in Ubon Ratchathani Province, which is the place where the relics of the Lord Buddha and the relics of the Arahants, Sariputta and Maha Moggallana, were temporarily enshrined atMahawanaram Temple It was found that there were 810,374 Buddhist devotees from Ubon Ratchathani Province and nearby provinces, including neighboring countries, who attended the 4-day event, which was a number that showed the overwhelming power of the public's faith in Buddhism.
The Bodhigaya Institute considered and saw fit to use this auspicious occasion of the visit of the relics of the Lord Buddha and the chief disciples to organize a project to expand and develop the benefits of the faith of all Buddhists in Buddhism, to develop the practice of Dhamma until gaining wisdom to solve the problems of humanity. It was considered that Ubon Ratchathani Province is suitable to be the first province to organize this project, which is consistent with the province's reputation as a land of scholars, people who aspire to Dhamma, and a city of light of Dhamma, and especially as the birthplace of noble monks such as Luang Pu Sao Kantasilo, Luang Pu Man Phurithatto, and Luang Pu Cha Suphatto.
From this idea, Bodhgaya Institute has initiated the Dharma discussion project on the topic of “Dhammavijaya to the Century of Dharma”, lighting candles of Dharma, Ubon Ratchathani, the world meditation city, to promote the use of Buddhist principles to expand and develop the core of Dharma for all humanity on Friday, June 20, 2024 at the 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary Chalermprakiat Building, Ubon Ratchathani University.
