The propagation of the Dharma is a direct succession of the Lord Buddha. It is a work that the Lord Buddha established with his own hands and practiced himself. In just the first year of his ordination, he set the Dharma wheel moving throughout the Indian subcontinent.
Propagation work is a Buddhist method of peace. The most important thing that has made Buddhism progress for more than 2000 years is the heart and morale of the work of the group of monks, male and female lay devotees who have turned to work with the Lord Buddha, with a deep and correct understanding that the Lord Buddha teaches things that others can understand, are beneficial to life, and can truly solve suffering.
The intention of doing good deeds for Buddhism
Bodhgaya Institute 980 was established with the virtuous intentions of all sections of Buddhists who came together to do good deeds that would be beneficial to themselves and society, to offer to the Lord Buddha, as the Lord Buddha had trusted before he passed into nirvana that his followers would be able to firmly uphold the Dhamma, practice the Dhamma, continue Buddhism, and protect Buddhism.
2007
On the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's birthday His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Rama IX On the occasion of His Majesty's 80th birthday, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi, Republic of India, organized an ordination ceremony to dedicate merit to His Majesty and to show loyalty to the highest and most revered institution. The ceremony was held at Bodhimanda, the place of the Lord Buddha's enlightenment, and at Wat Thai Buddhagaya, Tambon Buddhagaya, District Gaya, Magadha Province, State of Bihar, Republic of India, between 28 October - 6 November 2007.
The ordination ceremony was attended by 86 civil servants, soldiers, police officers, businessmen and members of the public after the ordained monks traveled to important Buddhist sites and pilgrimage sites in the Republic of India and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.
That journey allowed the group of monks to learn about Buddhism, resulting in greater faith in Buddhism. They were able to appreciate the great kindness of the Lord Buddha, realize the value of traveling to study Buddhism and follow in the footsteps of the Buddha, and put it into practice to benefit themselves, their families, and society.
2007 – 2009
When the monks left the monastic life, the group of ordained monks who were given the name "Bodhi" They came together to establish the “Bodhigaya 980 Club” to uphold Buddhism and provide benefits to society by supporting the propagation and protection of Buddhism.
With cooperation from many parties, such as the executive committee and participants of the Senior Justice Process Executives Training Course (B.Y.S.), led byMr. Chantawat Woratat The course director led the participants of the 12th, 13th, and 14th B.Y.S. training program to travel to be ordained as monks in the land of Buddha, India-Nepal, and joined the Bodh Gaya 980 Club to jointly raise funds to support monks to travel to study in the land of Buddha. He set up a project to encourage Thai monks to study and practice Dhamma in depth in the land of Buddha, India-Nepal, with the grace of Phra Thet Phra Khun. Then, the members of the Bodhigaya Club agreed to establish and support the “BodhigayaVijjalaya 980 Institute” as a charitable organization to provide education and training in Buddhism and to organize various projects related to promoting the propagation and protection of Buddhism. The Bodhgaya Institute has its base of operations at the pilgrimage sites and Buddhist sites. In the initial period, the center of operations was set up at the Thai Kusinara Chalermrat Temple, Mathakur Subdistrict, Kusinakorn District (Kasia), Dewariya Province, Uttar Pradesh. Later, the Thai Buddhagaya Temple was established as the head office and had an office in Thailand at Thai Nakhon Pattana Co., Ltd., Bang Khen Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District, Nonthaburi Province.
2009 – 2014
By realizing the value of studying the Dharma in the land of Buddha, India-Nepal, which is a place to train oneself to be a Bodhgaya Dharma Messenger who can bring good things according to the Dharma of the Lord Buddha back to use as a force to lead the nation to prosperity.
Training of Sangha leaders nationwide in the project to encourage Thai monks to study and practice Dhamma in depth in the land of Buddha, India - Nepal, and the Buddhist Studies course was therefore born as a basis for studying Dhamma from the Tripitaka from the birthplace of Buddhism. The course is supervised by experts. Phrakhru Nirotbunyakorn, Dr. The Headmaster of the Institute and the group of teachers of the Institute led a field study of both theory and practice in depth at important pilgrimage sites and Buddhist sites in India and Nepal for 1 Lent in the land of Buddha.
At the beginning, the Bodh Gaya Institute provided training only to Thai Sangha leaders. Later, the training was expanded to include monks in the Mekong Basin countries, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Therefore, the project name was adjusted, removing the word “Thai”. The project was renamed the Project to Promote Monks to Study and Practice Dhamma in Deep Dhamma in the Land of Buddhahood, India and Nepal, and the original Buddhist Studies curriculum was used.
In summary, there were 196 monks who attended the training, in 6 classes, 32 monks per class. The graduates became Dhammatutibodhigaya. Those who studied Buddhism developed faith in Buddhism and achieved the results of receiving knowledge and experience from the land of Buddha to spread to Buddhists in the land of Buddha and their hometowns.

Determination to work to support the propagation and protection of Buddhism in order to sustain and support Buddhism, expanding the base of operations from the holy sites, the land of Buddha, India-Nepal, to the Mekong Basin countries, the land of Suvarnabhumi, by organizing projects aimed at supporting the use of Buddhism to turn an unrest situation into peace, creating awareness of the common position, which is to be Buddhists in the Lord Buddha.
From the foundation of this institution, driven by the power of unity and the power of prayer to create the power of the Buddha, the power of the Dhamma and the power of the Sangha to bring the teachings of Buddhism into the hearts of Buddhists, sparking through various projects to show the boundless love of compassion that Buddhists can communicate with each other and that the teachings of Buddhism can truly create peace for this world and truly escape suffering.

Bodhgaya Institute continuously organizes projects related to Buddhism, instilling faith in the Triple Gem among Buddhists and inviting them to study, learn, and apply Buddhism to every situation, such as the traveling project of Buddhism Transforming the World, a seminar project with social issues related to Buddhism, and the project of Buddhism Transforming Suvarnabhumi by organizing a meeting of diplomatic leaders on the topic of “Buddhist Diplomacy” and organizing an international monk conference on the topics of “Buddhist Transforming Suvarnabhumi, Unity of Dharma, Land of Dharma, Land of Gold” and “Buddhist Transforming Suvarnabhumi, Transforming Problems into Paths” at Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Therefore, we have joined hands to organize the Bodhigaya Dhammayatra project, believing that every land we visit is like a home with the same father, the Lord Buddha, and the same mother, the Mekong River, because we were born in the same place.

2019, the 2nd time was held under the name of Dhammayatra 5 Lands, Buddhist Diplomacy for World Peace.

Research on the influence of belief in Naga This is an extension project after the two Dhammayatra Bodhgaya events on the topic of the influence of the belief in the Naga related to Buddhism in the Mekong River Basin region of 5 countries on the way of life, culture and traditions. It is a collaboration between the “Bodhigaya Institute” and the “Faculty of Buddhism, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University” with support from the Viraphuchong Foundation. The research project on the influence of the belief in the Naga will be a research that collects beliefs about the Naga in all dimensions. This is the first time in history that beliefs about “the Naga” in Buddhism will be collected. The goal is to elevate the knowledge of “belief in the Naga” to the level of the cultural heritage of the Mekong River Basin and request for UNESCO registration together with 5 countries: Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam. This is our dream to create history for the Buddhists of the Mekong River Basin who have a shared world cultural heritage.

BodhigayāNāgādhipati Award It is an award to honor the virtues of the Naga who have practiced Bodhidharma to protect Buddhism to be permanently stable. It is comparable to the outstanding virtues of the Naga towards Buddhism according to the evidence that appears in Buddhism and from the teachings of the noble monks who practice well and correctly, which have been seen and known as stories for more than 2,600 years and have been recorded in many Tripitaka scriptures. And from the faith and belief in the Naga of the people in the Mekong River Basin that has existed since ancient times until the present era.
