Secretary-General of Institute attends the International Dharma Dhamma Conference 2024

Dr. Supachai Verapuchong, Secretary-General of BodhigayaVijjalaya 980 Institute, together with Ms. Pattarat Hongthong, Ambassador of Thailand to New Delhi, India, attended the 8th International Academic Conference at the International Dharma Dhamma Conference 2024, which was held at the Conference Center, Gujarat University, India, from 23-25 ​​August 2024. The conference was opened by Honorable Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice President of India, and Honorable Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, and Honorable Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, along with clerical leaders such as SWAMI SHRI GOVINDA DEV GIRI JI MAHARAJ Treasurer, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, India. SWAMI BRAHMAVIHARIDAS, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, India and Most Ven. Banagala Upatissa Nayake Thero , President, Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka attended the inaugural ceremony.

This academic conference is jointly organised by the India Foundation, an important advisory body to the Prime Minister of India, led by Dr Ram Madhav, Chairman of the India Foundation, and Gujarat University, one of the oldest and leading universities in India, led by Prof. Neerja A Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University.

At the event, Dr. Supachai Verapuchong, Secretary-General of BodhigayaVijjalaya 980 Institute, gave a lecture on the topic of “DHAMMAVIJAYA TO DHAMMA CENTURY”: Buddhist Alliance for Dhamma Century, Dhamma Principles of All Religions to campaign for leaders to jointly apply the knowledge and principles of the teachings of the Lord Buddha, including the principles of all religions, to drive them into practice, overcome greed, anger, and delusion with mindfulness, bring wisdom, create peace in the world society, and help drive the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who stated that “The 21st century is the century of Asia, but the century of Asia cannot happen if Asia is without Buddhism.”

On this occasion, Ambassador Bhattarat gave a speech on the importance of Buddhism to Thailand and the promotion of Thai-Indian relations, the roles of government and private sectors in promoting Buddhist cooperation, and suggested ways to promote and use Buddhist concepts in promoting relations between Thailand and India, including countries in the region.

The Dharma Dhamma Conference 2024 has an important goal to exchange knowledge on the use of Dharma principles to create peace in the world. This event has religious, political, and academic leaders coming together to present knowledge, ideas, and practices to consider creating a philosophical framework for a new world order under the theme of “Cosmology in Dharma-Dhamma Traditions”.
