Nagesh Singh Indian Ambassador to Thailand, discussed with executives of two think tanks that will co-host the 4th SAMVAD meeting: Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) by Ms. Anuttama Ganguly, Secretary-General of VIF, and Bodhigaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute by Dr. Supachai Veraphuchong, Secretary-General of Bodhigaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute
H.E. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Talking about the success of the 1st and the 2nd Dhammayatra projects in the Mekong Basin Laos-Cambodia-Myanmar- Vietnam-Thailand organized by the Bodhigaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute is a connection between State to State. The 3rd Dhammayatra project invited Ganga-Mekong Holy Buddha Relics Dhammayatra. And the 4th Dhammayatra project, The 4th Dhammayatra to Buddhabhoomi : Mekong- Ganga Declaration on Dhamma Century is a connection between People to People.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs tried to push for Declaring the Dhamma Century to be a topic in the 4th SAMVAD conference held at the ESCAP building, which is a regional agency (Asia Pacific) of the United Nations. It will be considered the first step in bringing “Dhamma” to the United Nations stage.Presenting Dharma on the international stage now has to move beyond Faith to Wisdom.

“SAMVAD” is a Sanskrit word meaning “dialogue”. VIF organized the 1st “SAMVAD” conference in New Delhi, Republic of India in 2015, the 2nd SAMVAD conference was held in Yangon, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and the 3rd SAMVAD conference was held in Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia in 2019
The 4th SAMVAD will be held in Thailand from 14-17 February 2025 under the theme of Global Hindu-Buddhist Initiative on Conflict Avoidance and Environment Consciousness. It is a global conference focusing on promoting cooperation between Hinduism and Buddhism to “resolve conflicts” and “raise environmental awareness”. The conference focuses on philosophical approaches rooted in Hinduism and Buddhism to solve important problems in the modern world.

The VIF Secretary-General also explained that there will be 3 parallel forums in the SAMVAD:
1]. The forum of political leaders
2]. The forum of religious leaders
3]. The forum of representatives from think tanks, academics, experts, and the roundtable of spiritual and religious leaders. So far, representatives from think tanks from 20 countries have accepted to attend the conference.
Dr. Supachai Verapuchong, Secretary-General of Bodhigaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute, emphasized the Declaration on the Dhamma Century on December 5, 2024, which is an extension of the “Century of Asia” vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi of India in 2015 that “The Asian Century cannot happen without Dhamma”
Currently, Bodhigaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute as a co-organizer of SAMVAD together with VIF and partner organizations such as International Budhist Confederation (IBC) Bharat Studies Center, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, under the Secretary-General of Bodhigaya Vijjalaya 980 Institute is inviting ministerial leaders and monk representatives from the Mekong countries to attend the 4th SAMVAD.
The 4th SAMVAD will be held on 14-17 February 2025 at ESCAP Building, Bangkok and at Sofitel Phokeethra Hotel, Krabi Province. “Krabi Province” in southern Thailand is important for trade and ancient cultural exchange between southern India, Suvarnabhumi, ancient China and further to ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. Krabi Province is also a sacred place of ancient Hindu gods and legends related to Ramayana, Shiva and the legend of Naga. The Bodhikaya Institute 980 will present “Research on the Sacred Civilization Heritage Sword” as another highlight of the 4th SAMVAD conference.
