Mr. Supachai Verapuchong, Secretary-General of the Bodhigayavijjalaya 980 Institute, along with Mr. Maris Sangiampong, Deputy Secretary-General, had the honor of attending the opening ceremony of the 75th Anniversary and the 31st General Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) on December 6, 2025, at the auditorium of Vajiravudh College.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul assigned Mr. Prasop Riangngoen, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, to act on his behalf. On this occasion, Mr. Prasop Riangngoen conveyed the royal message of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, expressing His Majesty's appreciation and congratulations to the World Fellowship of Buddhists on its 75th anniversary and the convening of its 31st General Conference. His Majesty the King graciously suggested that the WFB discuss and address the current global situations that are rapidly changing people's lives, which seem to leave them with little opportunity to be interested in seeking the truth and understanding religious Dhamma.
Therefore, His Majesty requested the World Fellowship of Buddhists to consider it a primary mission to highlight the importance and necessity of knowing and understanding things as they truly are. He urged them to select the core Dhamma teachings and practical principles to explain with reason and through methods that align with the mental state and living conditions of people today. When the people of the world understand the correct way of life, it will lead to happiness and prosperity for themselves and the world, both in the present and the future.
On this same occasion, His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavangsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, commanded Somdet Phra Mahathirachan of Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram to act as the presiding monk on his behalf at the 75th-anniversary celebration of the WFB, and also provided a royal congratulatory address to be read at the conference.
Prior to that, Mr. Phallop Thai-arry, the 6th President of the WFB, reported that the 31st General Conference and the 75th-anniversary celebration of the WFB, held from December 4-7, 2025, were attended by 61 regional centers from 30 countries, totaling approximately 300 participants.
Following the conclusion of the 31st General Conference, Mr. Phallop Thai-arry, President of the WFB, handed over the WFB flag to the representative of Japan, announcing that Japan will host the 32nd WFB General Conference in 2028, marking the 78th anniversary of the WFB.
